Just a little page on the materials I use, some information about
each of the products to ensure you know what you are buying in case you
didn't already know.
Air-Dry Clay
This is basically
what it says on the tin, this clay dries in the air and is sanded,
painted, varnished etc. It dries very lightweight which makes it ideal
for earrings, plus it can be produced in any colour which gives you guys
a lot of choice! However due to it being clay it can chipped if bashed
around.
Polymer Clay
This clay is a little more pricey
and comes ready coloured in blocks so if certain colours are required I
will have to order them in. I like to make little sculptures from
scratch from this such as cookies, donuts etc. Again it is fairly
lightweight depending on the size of the product. This clay is a lot
stronger than the air-dry clay but like all handmade delicate items, it
can be broken or chipped if mistreated.
This is a great product however it is a lot more pricey than the other products. Resin is a two part liquid which you mix together, then with a colourant then pour into molds. This means that the products I can produce are limited as I only have certain molds. Resin takes a few days to fully harden and when it does it resembles acrylic or plastic. Resin is very hard and shouldn't chip unless extremely bashed about and the good thing is that it is lightweight too.
